Since 2009 Cure4 Cystic Fibrosis has raised over $5 million to invest in cure focused research. We are the largest private funder of cystic fibrosis research and development in Australia.
Our point of Difference
Cure4 Cystic Fibrosis exclusively funds research into therapies and treatments that will either cure cystic fibrosis or significantly extend the life expectancy of people living with cystic fibrosis. This is our key point of difference.
In 2018 we determined that we would expand our impact across the nation to fund Australian research that makes global impact.
We exclusively invest in research activity that has a translational pathway and that will ultimately make it into the clinical setting. The research we fund must be:
- Academically excellent
- Clinically relevant
- Commercially feasible
We have a rigorous model for our funding, with excellent governance and reporting frameworks supported by an expert Advisory Committee. Our grants process ensures our focus is on funding translational research – that has scientific, clinical and commercial merit and a focused pathway to clinical outcomes.
Through our recent grant round, we have uncovered incredible Australian research that has the potential to transform cystic fibrosis treatment globally. Through targeted funding, we can accelerate this research.
There is no cure for cystic fibrosis and although recent advancements, such as Orkambi and Kalydeco, provide hope for some sufferers, the social impact and devastation of cystic fibrosis remains. Many people with CF still have few treatment options that will extend their lifespan beyond the average of 38 years.
The economic impact is also great. The average lifetime cost per patient to treat cystic fibrosis is well over $1M and growing. Our work in support of a cure will have a significant impact on the Australian health system and economy.
Join the Fight
We believe cystic fibrosis is a solvable problem and together, we can be a part of the cure.
